We’re currently working on integrating SAP FI data into a client’s Data Vault. One of the key source tables is ACDOCA (Universal Journal line items), and we’re evaluating how best to model it in the Raw Vault.
Rather than creating a single, highly connected transactional link, we’re considering decomposing ACDOCA into multiple links that represent more granular business relationships. The objective is to create more stable Data Vault structures and reduce the likelihood and cost of future refactoring (e.g., hub-outs as new business entities or relationships emerge).
Has anyone tackled a similar challenge with ACDOCA or other SAP financial data? If so, how did you approach the modeling, and what lessons learned or recommendations would you share? In hindsight, would you still make the same design choices?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
