Data Vault: Core Concepts is now available on demand

Core Concepts Cover Image1

We’ve retired the live Data Vault: Core Concepts session and rebuilt it as a free on-demand course. @neil.strange’s walkthrough is now recorded, split into modules, and available to watch whenever suits you.

If you’ve been meaning to catch the live session for months and never quite made the date, this is for you.

What’s in it

Fourteen modules across two parts.

Part One is the context — where Data Vault came from, how it compares with Kimball and Inmon, why organisations choose it, and what actually changes in the way a team works when they adopt it.

Part Two is the model itself — data modelling, staging, hubs, links and satellites, business rules, getting data back out into data products, transitioning an existing platform, and a look at the tooling market.

The whole thing runs on a worked example, Hypo Furniture: an online furniture business with two source systems and six tables of interest, modelled from scratch through to a data product for the marketing team.

Who it’s for

Anyone who has heard the terms and wants a working overview before deciding whether to go further — architects, engineers, analysts, and managers who need to understand what they’d be signing the team up for. It assumes no prior Data Vault knowledge.

How to get it

It’s free. You give an email address, you get access to all fourteen modules.
